Day 1: The 2026 World Cup... in Texas?
12 p.m. The 2026 World Cup... in Texas?
Host: Victor Araiza
Confirmed Guests: Monica Paul, Steve Davis, and Chris Canetti
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States in what will be the largest version of the tournament with 48 national teams.
Among the potential cities hoping to host the tournament are Texas’ own Dallas, a host city during the 1994 World Cup, and Houston, which hopes to host for the very first time. FIFA will announce the 2026 host cities this year and Texas hopes for a two-step of worldwide proportions.
In this panel, Dallas Sports Commision Executive Director Monica Paul and Houston 2026 World Cup Bid Committee President Chris Canetti provide insight into what hosting the world’s most popular sports tournament can do for Texas' two largest metropolitan areas.
